Fuel facility coming to Whitianga

Posted by Boost Commerce on

GOfuel are excited to announce that they have been working with Coromandel Rescue Helicopter Trust, the Mercury Bay Aero Club, and Thames Coromandel District Council to install a 30,000 litre Jet A1 fuel facility at the Whitianga Airfield.

A Coromandel Rescue Helicopter is positioned at Whitianga from Labour Weekend through to the end of summer each year and they are working towards basing a helicopter onsite all year round. Both Auckland and Hamilton Rescue Helicopters come into this base weekly to pick up patients and transport to Waikato or Auckland hospital.

This facility will be of huge benefit to the Coromandel community to allow rescue helicopters fuel 24/7 and GOfuel are pleased to have partnered with the Trust to be able to provide this service.

The pilots are very happy with the news of having Jet fuel on the airfield 24/7 rather than having to go to Thames for fuel.

GOfuel aviation fuelcards are required to use the 24/7 unmanned site. These can be applied for online at www.gofuel.co.nz or contact Barry Brown, Aviation Manager on 027738 0380. This card gives access to not only the GOfuel Aerostop network but the wider Air BP network throughout the country.

The fuel facility will be operational in the next month.
